Japan 2016 (Day 3): Kawagoe, Saitama + Fairy Tail Stage Play + Pokemon Center + Otome Road + Cardcaptor Sakura x Animate Cafe

Cardcaptor Sakura x Animate Cafe

The third day of our Japan trip! We woke up early to ride the train to Saitama, then went back to Tokyo to watch the Fairytail stage play and visit the Pokemon Center and the “Cardcaptor Sakura x Animate Cafe” collab cafe.

Kawagoe, Saitama

Our first agenda was Kawagoe, Saitama. We saw lots of old houses on our way to Candy Alley. Unfortunately, most of the shops are still closed because we went there early. It was a 20 to 30-minute walk from the train station, but it’s all worth it.

This is the first store that opened, so we went ahead and bought what they were selling. It’s a mix of sweet potato and red beans.

On our way back to the train station, we bought pudding. It has a cherry blossom inside. How cool is that? I regretted not buying a dozen.

Fairy Tail Stage Play at Sunshine City Theatre

How do I even start? I haven’t watched the anime nor read the manga, so I have 0% knowledge about Fairy Tail. My friend wanted to watch, so I decided to tag along because I enjoy watching stage plays and Araki Hirofumi (Jellal) is part of the cast.

One word: AWESOME. The set was so cool. The week after I got home, I watched the anime and found out that the characters were also on point. I was shocked to know that Anju Inami (Angel) was there, too. She’s more famous now, thanks to her voice actress work for Love Live! Sunshine. I’ve seen her on stage before as Yamanaka Ino of Live Spectacle Naruto. Coincidentally, the director of this production, Akiko Kodama, is the same director as the Naruto stage play. Woah.

Pokemon Center at Sunshine City + Otome Road, Ikebukuro

After the stage play, we have about an hour to spend before our reservation at Animate Cafe. We dropped by the Pokemon Center before leaving Sunshine City.

We roamed around Otome Road, as well. Lots of K-Books branches for all your anime, manga (including BL), and seiyuu needs. ww

Cardcaptor Sakura x Animate Cafe

We entered the lottery for this collab cafe (and won!), but if you can’t get tickets online, they allow walk-ins if the schedule isn’t a full house. You won’t get the limited edition freebies, though.

I made a separate post about this cafe because there are many photos in this post already. OTL

Another tiring yet fulfilling day for us. It rained in the afternoon, though, and it was freezing cold. What great timing when you’re just wearing a T-shirt and skirt, right? Nevertheless, it was fun.
