My first Fantasy Quest, yay! I recently became a fan of this cosplayer from Singapore after seeing her at Cosplay Mania. She’s so cute and bubbly that I regret not having another opportunity to see her, and then it turns out that she’s going back to the PH for the third time this October. (That’s like traveling almost every week. Woah.) Of course, I don’t want to miss the chance even if I ended up going there alone.
Well, not really. I found a friend when I got there. It pays to have friends in the same community because you’ll end up seeing each other. (￣▽￣)
The Girl Traveler
I’m kind of adventurous lately (that’s why my friends call me a shoujo traveler 笑) and managed to arrive at the venue alone with only a map to rely on. When I got there, I was amazed at the venue. I’ve heard many good reviews about Fernwood Gardens, but I didn’t expect that it was this beautiful.
My friend, my new found friend, and I roamed around the area to take photos. Guess what? The first photo that I took was not a cosplayer, but a mini drago— I mean, an iguana! I felt bad for the Game of Thrones cosplayers because I gave more attention to this cute little thing. OTL
The Stage Guest
A few minutes later, the host announced that Liui Aquino arrived at the venue and will be having a mini-talk at the stage. He became more popular because of his How to Train Your Dragon cosplay, so I never had the chance to meet him up close.
He often travels overseas to attend Japanese-related events (So envious!). And even if we’re in the same convention, I’m too busy with my dance group that I don’t have the time to look for him. He’s actually the reason I started watching Haikyuu!! Despite the hype, I didn’t know it was a volleyball anime until I saw him cosplay as Hinata Shoyou. Yes, I used to play volleyball in high school and college.
The hosts announced after the talk that he’ll be selling 20 copies of his photobook. Of course, I went to the booth to buy one (I’m into cosplay photobooks recently!). I even had a short chat with him because nobody was next in line.
“Are you sure you only want one selfie???” // “Ohhh, did your little sister think that I’m Hiccup who came to life? (laughs) Just kidding!” He’s totally adorkable. Definitely someone you can talk to without running out of topics. He also gave me an extra coscard for my little sister.
Treehouse with Lev and Rian
Afterwards, we decided to eat and went up the tree house. This could’ve been a good opportunity to cosplay cleaning Levi. Meet my new found friend, Rish. (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧
The Fashion Show
Around 4:30 P.M., a wonderland-themed fashion show took place. If I remember correctly, it’s called the Millerfrilly Fashion Show. The cute girl in red with pigtails is the one who designed all the costumes.
The International Guests
The cosplay catwalk proceeded after 30 minutes. Attendees went down the stairs and walked the red carpet followed by the international guest cosplayers. Most of them are from Singapore, like Vic Kumiko and viospace, but their main guests, Jun and Neru, are from Japan.
The international cosplayers left the stage, while Jun and Neru stayed for their autograph session. I bought their Touken Ranbu photobook and went up the stage… speechless. I know some conversational words in Japanese, but I only ended up saying thank you. Both of them are so handsome even though they’re female. I have high respect for cross-dressers. Their makeup skills are awesome. ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ )‧º·˚
We roamed around after the signing session while waiting for the grand ball. I asked Vic to sign a copy of her Nozomi x Eli (from Love Live!) photobook with Jesuke and had a short chat with her. She’s like a ball of sunshine—so cheerful and bubbly! I saw our new SK member, Kat Langomez, and the ultra kawaii (sometimes ikemen) Wynona of Vanilla Fairy, as well.
I didn’t stay long for the grand ball. I got envious, though, since people were dancing and here I am packing my things because I have to wake up at 3:30 A.M. to go to work the following day.
Fantasy Quest 4 was indeed fun. I haven’t been attending events and conventions lately unless we’re there to perform, so this is a nice refresher. The only regret I have is I went there on casual clothing. I wanted to cosplay, but something happened. The venue was great and I wasn’t able to maximize it. OTL
The organizers announced that the next event might be at the newly opened Fernwoods Tagaytay. That’s far from home, but we’ll see. After this experience, I think I’m willing to travel depending on my mood. ‘Til the next event. |ω・｀)ノ
